History
ECC began in 1995 and joined the Early Childhood Enrichment (ECE) system that year. Our mission is to enrich the lives of children by working with the adults who affect their lives – parents, caregivers, and educators.
ECC provides training, on-site technical assistance, and coaching to childcare providers. We help them address social, cognitive, and emotional development, problem-solving skills, language and physical development, health, and safety. ECC provides referrals, resources, and training to parents. We are active in the ECE community in Western South Dakota. We work with agencies and resources to increase the quality of childcare and promote children’s well-being within Region 1 of the South Dakota ECE system.
ECC oversees the Starting Strong Rapid City (SSRC) program. SSRC is a preschool scholarship and quality improvement program that works with five preschools in Rapid City.

Follow Omaha St. West. Omaha will turn into W. Chicago St. Head West on W. Chicago St. Go straight through the intersection of W. Chicago and Sturgis Rd. Take the next right on Trail View Dr. just after Sturgis Rd. After passing the driveway for Rapid Regional Foot Clinic, turn right into the ECC parking lot.
From Main St.:
Follow Main St. West. At the intersection where Main St. turns into Sturgis Rd., continue straight onto Sturgis Rd. Continue on Sturgis Rd. until the intersection with W. Chicago St. Take a left at the light onto W. Chicago St., then the next right onto Trail View Dr. After passing the driveway for Rapid Regional Foot Clinic, turn right into the ECC parking lot.
