Children who start early, start strong.

What is Starting Strong?

Starting Strong is a program that helps low-income families afford preschool in Rapid City. We offer scholarships for three- and four-year-olds, and our goal is to give kids a chance to go to preschool when they might not be able to afford it otherwise.

Why is this important?

This helps ensure all children can get a good start with their education. Starting Strong also helps preschools have the tools they need to build high-quality programs.

How are the preschools different?

Starting Strong preschools use the SD Early Learning Guidelines and research-based curriculums. Their classrooms are safe and healthy, with the right equipment and materials to help kids grow socially and emotionally to prepare for school.

If you think you cannot afford preschool for your child, please apply. If you qualify, Starting Strong will pay all costs for preschool.
